Usher Wants You to (Not) Hush Up…By Voting
October 30th, 2008

Nov. 4 is fast approaching. And ServiceNation Youth Chair Usher wants everyone to have a voice in our future. To help inspire people to get involved and vote, he has released a new video called “Hush.” Here is what he has to say about it:

“Hush is about my awakening over the past 10 years to the social issues in our country and realizing that I have a voice. As Americans we have the right to speak out about slow recovery in the Gulf Coast (after Hurricane Katrina), a long war and home foreclosures. But complaining isn’t enough, you have to also take action.

“Whether serving at the homeless shelter or going to the polls for the first time, you have to act or else Hush.”

I don’t plan to Hush. In fact no one here at ServiceNation knows what the word means. What about you?

Usher & Kal Penn Attending Summit
August 20th, 2008

I might be the most excited person in the organization about this - that’s not to say other people are excited, but I am full of enthusiasm. Usher (yes, the Usher) has signed on to be our Youth Chair for the Summit. We know tons of young people are interested in volunteering, so it makes sense to have someone specifically for them (us).

We’ve also confirmed that actor Kal Penn will be attending the Summit as part of our Leadership Council. If you somehow aren’t familiar with him, he’s been in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (as Kumar), The Namesake (based off the amazing book of the same title), and is currently appearing on House (as well as producing and acting in other movies and TV shows). He’s also been a guest professor at UPenn.

You can see the list of our leadership council here; stay tuned for more updates.
