SN TV: Get inspired
Changewire

Dear Change/Wire readers and visitors from the Volokh Conspiracy,

Yesterday, we became aware that Professor Lindgren of the Volokh Conspiracy had a series on ServiceNation. We are flattered that Professor Lindgren has gone to such lengths to examine and critique the ServiceNation campaign, and we thank you for taking the time to come to our blog. However, Professor Lindgren’s piece is entirely based on the premise that we support mandatory national service. We do not

We sent a letter to the Volokh Conspiracy explain this and letting them know we are happy to speak on the phone if anything requires further clarification. We respectfully requested that they post a response, but they have not yet corrected their series or posted our letter.

To clear up any initial confusion, we have added the following FAQ to our website:

Does ServiceNation support mandatory national service?

No. We support the idea of voluntary community and national service. We are working to inspire more Americans to volunteer their time and to encourage our leaders to create service opportunities for every American who wants to serve their community and country. We do not support mandatory national service requirements

The New York Times blog picked up the Volokh post, which unfortunately has the effect of perpetuating this misconception.  You can comment on the NYTimes story and help us get the facts out.
